Mirrorless vs DSLR – https://www.trustedreviews.com/news/mirrorless-vs-dslr-cameras-whats-the-difference-3535517

Mirrorless Pros

  • Generally smaller and lighter than DSLR’s
  • More information (like exposure, histogram, etc in the viewfinder)
  • Generally better video capabilities vs DSLR

Mirrorless Cons

  • Generally shorter battery life
  • Viewfinder may experience some lag issues
  • Viewfinder blackout times during rapid shooting may be worse then DSLR
  • Canon & Nikon FPS with autofocus and exposure can be much worse than DSLR counterpart
  • DSLR viewfinder is generally better in low light vs a mirrorless
  • Smaller selection of native lenses
  • DSLR’s still hold a slight advantage in autofocus

Bottom line is image quality between mirrorless and DSLR are on par, it really comes down to the sensor size and the lens, and of course the photographer.

Misc

Photo App I use – Photo Tools – really only use it for Blue Hour & Golden Hour and sometimes DOF

Tips for better Sports Photos – one of the things I love to shoot:

  1. Get to the event early
  2. Bring more than 1 lens
  3. Set your exposure (indoor may want to use manual mode)
  4. Set your White Balance
  5. Make sure autofocus is set to continuous, should really be here all the time
  6. Locate a few shooting locations
  7. Anticipate the action
  8. Capture the emotion, both on and off the field/court
  9. Get some candids
  10. Shoot RAW

Bonus Tip for all kids of photography – get down to your subjects level!

Super bonus tip – remember the Rule of Thirds

Software, every photographer MUST have editing software:

Christmas ideas

Cheap

Mid-Priced

Higher Priced
