The Fitness Tech Podcast Special Event / The 2011 Children’s TLC Groundhog Run 5K/10K in Kansas City (Audio and Video)
Jan 30th
Jim and Carrie headed down to Kansas City this weekend for the 2011 Children’s TLC Groundhog Run. 3500 runners from all over the area converge in an underground storage facility for two very unique races. The 5K race kicked off at 9:00am and the 10K at 10:00am (that makes it easy to remember!). Both Jim and Carrie ran (although Carrie was “bibless”) and struggled through the morning. You can here all the details in both the YouTube videos and the Podcast we did while in the cave! If you are a runner at all, you will understand the excitement on race day!

I’m Gonna Lose a Toenail, or My First Marathon
Jan 26th
WRITTEN BY TRISTA KUNCE
Becki hates feet. So I knew when I brought her to my physical therapist to learn how to tape my foot that she would tape it quickly and efficiently, especially after she didn’t believe that I had never heard of a pedicure before.
My feet are faulty: I overpronate, my arches collapse, and I have supination of the feet and bone spurs on the back of my heels. Clearly I don’t have great runner’s feet. And the legs attached to my feet? I’m built more like a chicken than a gazelle.
The Drobo with Windows 7 / Head to Head with a WHS?
Jan 23rd
Have you been looking for a better way to back up your data other than an external hard drive? So have many others. Over the last 3 years, Microsoft has been developing and supporting a product to help you with not only backing up your PCs, but assist you with some network file sharing. It’s called a Windows Home Server (WHS).
Admittedly, I am a WHS enthusiast, blogger and podcaster and have a vested interested in the product. In November, Microsoft pulled the Drive Extender (DE) functionality from the product and left the WHS community reeling. Much of this has already been document on this topic and if you have fallen behind, here is a must read to catch up. The short of it, is that the ability to use multiple hard drives in a single PC and have them seen as one volume and managed as a pool of drives is not longer going to be supported by Microsoft in the near future. For WHS enthusiasts, this was a blow!

How to Configure Windows 7 Updates
Jan 20th
If you’ve been a Windows user since XP, you probably know the importance of keeping the OS up-to-date. If you’re new to Windows or more specifically Windows 7, here we’ll take some time to go over the importance of making sure you have Windows Updates configured properly.
If you want to help make sure that your PC is is more stable and less vulnerable to malicious attacks, the 2 main things to keep up-to-date is your Antivirus software and Windows Updates. The 2nd Tuesday of each month Microsoft has what’s called “Patch-Tuesday”. This is the day when Microsoft releases patches to improve stability, fixes to known vulnerabilities, and zero-day attacks. Let’s take a look at the process if you’ve just re-installed Windows 7.

To check to make sure your Windows Update settings are on…click on Start>>All Programs and scroll to Windows Update.
