Jim and Jamie are back again with Show #38 of the Fitness Tech Podcast. This week is Jamie’s last at Gallup as she is moving on to new opportunities at home with her kids. In one of the more emotional podcasts we have done to date, Jim and Carrie catch up with Jason Phipps and listen to his fitness story. Jason was a 2 pack smoker on December 11, 2010. On December 12th, he quit and signed up to run a marathon! Carrie and Jim spend the next hour listening to a very inspiring story from a very determined guy. On May 1st, he will run is first marathon, ever! We talk about how he got started, what kind of program he used, how he incorporated technology to help and who helped get him there. It’s a must listen to anyone struggling to get started.

Jim and Jamie are back after the holidays to talk Christmas gifts that Santa brought. Jamie got a seriously nice new tech gift that has a fitness spin! Jim warns of some fitness products that you should carefully consider BEFORE you purchase, especially if you see it on TV.
This week RunKeeper released an update to its RunKeeper Application for both iPhone and Android. It’s FREE to download in the month of January. Up until now there as been a scaled down free version and a fee based Pro version. Both are now free for the taking. You can find both in the app store for each phone. The download has been very popular and smoked past the very popular Angry Birds.

The Fitness Tech Podcast #8 Best Buy Does Fitness? Special K Diet

Jamie and Jim again come together to talk Fitness Tech! We discuss Best Buy deciding to enter into the fitness market by dedicating space in 600 stores to sell fitness equipment and as well set aside space for users to try it out. We also talk GPS watches and heart rate monitors with Jamie. She has had some experience with the Garmin models.
