#62 The Home Tech Podcast: For the Photographers, Kayakers and Video Fans!

After a couple of weeks of being unable to record a show, Jim and Andrew are joined this week by Mike Howard from the jpeg2RAW Podcast, for this weeks’ installment of the Home Tech Podcast.
Jim tells us about the tribulations of automotive failure in a hybrid car, and Andrew gives us an update on the solar array he has on the roof before the guys roll into the show.

With everyone back on decent Internet connections, Jim, Andrew and Christian are joined this week by Mike Howard from jpeg2RAW.
After some updates from the guys, Dave McCabe, from the Home Server Show, joins the guys live from CES, and gives an update on the ioSafe demonstration, and the week at CES in general.
Jim tells us about how he and Dave have produced a lot of videos from CES to put onto the Home Server Show, using Google Plus Hangouts and LiveStream. The guys talk about their observations of CES 2012, and what they expect from CES in 2013.

Bill has also caught the “new microphone disease”, and the show starts off with Bill telling us about his new Samson Microphone. Jim talks about using a studio microphone along with a set of Yurbuds earphones, which let you hear ambient conversations, as well as the conversation you are partaking in.

Bill tells us about the projects he is working on, building an HTPC for a neighbor, a new gaming rig, and consolidating some hardware for other folks.
Jim talks about the recent software upgrade coming through to his Samsung Galaxy S Android phone, which has bought some additional functionality, and saved him from upgrading to a new phone, although the Samsung Galaxy SII is a very nice device.

It’s been a two week break for the Fitness Tech Podcast and it was time to get back after it! Jim and Carrie break down the activities of the weekend and cover an update on Carrie’s health, the new Spartan Cookbook contest, a race update on the State Farm 10 mile that we stretched into 19 and the concept behind the term “Clock Blocking!”

#18 The Home Tech Podcast: Paper.li, Event Management, Web Browsers, RunKeeper and the Stuxnet Virus
Jim, Christian, Andrew and special guest, Rich O’Neil get together for this edition of the Home Tech Podcast.
The guys start off talking about the Twitter aggregation service paper.li, which “organizes links shared on Twitter into an easy to read newspaper-style format. Newspapers can be created for any Twitter user, list or #tag”, and go on to discuss Eventbrite, which is an online service to help you plan, promote and co-ordinate and even sell tickets for your meetings, conferences and events.
After a quick update on the RunKeeper application, which now allows 2-way sync with your Android and Apple devices, the guys discuss the latest releases of Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer.
From Christian’s Corner, we get the Deal of the Week, being the 2TB Samsung F4 Hard Drive, a bargain at $89.99 from NewEgg.com, and the Speed Tip of the Week, where Christian talks us through turning off Indexing to make Windows more usable more quickly.
Our Special Guest, Rich brings to us talk about the Stuxnet Virus, which although written to target industrial equipment, is quite a scary virus, given the impact it could have it were used to target Internet users.
