What is the state of the browser in 2015? Dustin spends some time talking us thru the latest in Browser standards. Surprisingly, Dustin tells us that the new browser from Microsoft, Edge (formally known as Project Spartan) and coming with Window 10 only is going to make a huge jump over Chrome, Firefox and Sarfri when it comes to web standards.
You can use http://html5test.com/ to score the browser you use. Chrome is the leader with 526 is followed by Firefox, Safari and last IE. Edge will come in ahead of IE the day it launches.
Microsoft’s newest browser, Edge will be available on July 29th on Windows 10 and is in preview. Get more info at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-microsoft-edge-pc
With Edge, you can search faster with a redesigned address bar. Edge allows you to right on the web and send it to your friends via email or social with a pen enabled tablet or with your mouse. With the new hub, collect all your favorites, reading list, browsing history and current downloads all in one place. Powered by Cortana, it really looks like it might be an exciting new addition to Windows 10.
Dustin also mentions the site http://caniuse.com/ which provides up to date browser support tables for front end web technologies on desktop and mobile web browsers.
What is the state of mobile development? It might be best stated in the number of IDEs that are out there. A tool from http://html5please.com/ will allow you to look up your features and see what browsers support it.
Microsoft has a product coming in Continuum. Watch the video from Microsoft here
Dustin has the new Pebble Steel Smart Watch for iPhone and Android by Pebble http://amzn.to/1O036M7. Its build from marine-grade steel and covered with Gorilla Glass, it looks tough and rugged. You can control music from iTunes, Spotify and Pandora with a rechargeable battery that can last 5 to 7 days. Waterproof down to 5 ATM, its ready for any user.
I still prefer my Garmin Forerunner 220 http://amzn.to/1O03M4e that is semi-smart, but works great for what I use it for. A great alternative from Garmin and coming in at 1/3 of the price is the Forerunner 110 http://amzn.to/1Tr3Cpu
