It’s smaller than the iPhone 6 Plus or Galaxy Note 4 in size and almost just a thin. You could throw in a pocket or a backpack for travel, just remember to bring along the cord and it sports a 4640 mAh battery for recharging cell phones and other USB-rechargeable devices while on-the-go. It can also function as a WiFi hot spot by connecting to a wired Internet connection, either at home or on the road. Lastly, it functions as a way to connect an SD card or USB flash drive to shared files wirelessly or you can back up the photos from your iPhone or Android device wirelessly for easy storage.  It does a lot.

Features:

  • Extend your storage up to 2TB using USB flash drives, SD cards, or microSD cards
  • 4640 mAh battery allows you to charge your smartphone up to 2X
  • Stream movies, listen to music, and view different photos on multiple mobile devices simultaneously
  • Backup photos and videos from your camera roll to free up space
  • Read SD cards and USB flash drives from your mobile device or your PC
  • Create a Wi-Fi hotspot from a wired Internet connection
  • Free Google Play, iOS and Kindle Apps available

The set up requires you to install the Kingston MobileLite App from either iTunes or the Android Play store for initial setup.

Once you have the app installed and you connect your phone’s Wifi connection to the device, you can see files that are either on the USB drive or the SD Card.  In my case, I loaded a movie, some music and some pictures.  I also backed up 105 pictures from my phone.

Testing

Pros

Streaming Movies from the device was excellent.  They were loaded as mp4s that had been ripped with Handbrake using the iPhone & iPod touch settings.  Played music to a second device at the same time with no skipping or lagging issues.

The unit comes with one plug that doubles as a charger for the device, and then can be switched around to charge your phone.  They don’t recommend you charge anything larger than a phone in the documentation.  Unplug Flash drive, plug in USB cable and charge phone.  When done, reverse it to a power source and you can recharge the unit. Very slick

I copied all 105 photos from iPhone to the USB card in the device.  Quick and simple.  Good back up if you are doing that any other way.
