The Nest Protect – Smoke + CO Alarm: About, Unboxed and Installed

My Nest thermostat is not so lonely anymore!  Thanks to The Average Guy Tech Scholarship Fund I have the pleasure of reviewing the latest from Nest. The Nest Protect is a smart smoke and carbon monoxide detector and that doesn’t take much when compared to the average home smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. The biggest and most interesting part of the Nest Protect for me is the fact that it doesn’t over react. I think we all have cooked something a little to well done and opened the oven to take care of the issue only to have another issue.

Gear Added to the AverageGuy.tv Studio: Lights, Camera, Action

Christmas of 2013 was good to Jim and my tech setup at home for Podcasting!  A couple of gifts from Santa (you know who you are) and some great hardware upgrades from the family and the home studio has improved by 100%  Let me share them with you. The first thing you notice about the Magicstick 2800mAh is how solid and well built it feels. It is not heavy, only 2.6 oz., but the device has heft.
