I Have A Need…A Need For Getting Better Transfer Speeds From My WHS

One of the things that has bothered me the most about my WHS (Windows Home Server) experience that been the incredibly slow file transfer speeds that I get from my client boxes to the server and back.  Granted, I am using older equipment with slow processors, IDE drives and 10/100 network devices, but the fact still remains, I want more speed! Joe DiFiglia over at Computing on Demand posted some good info back in early June on a tweek that will get you some serious speed from the new gigabit switches and network cards.  It would be a couple

Worried About Losing Your Hard Drive to Fire? Worry No Longer!

What is your worst nightmare?  Public speaking?  Getting married?  Nude in public?  Mine is losing all my data that is stored on my Windows Home Server to a fire.  I can see it now…the house catches fire and like a good father I race to get my wife and children to safety!  Just as I go running back into the flames to grab my computer equipment (oh, and you know I would!) the roof collapses into my basement and the house is a total loss!  Everything digital is gone.  What a sad day that would be! It doesn’t have to

iPod Touch 3.0 Software Is Now Available

If you have been following my cell phone saga, you know that one of the requirements I have for the new cell phone is iPod touch like functionality.  I currently own a Touch and love it!  I use it mostly for listening to podcasts and music, but do find time to use the many applications from time to time.  But, carrying around two devices (especially since the Touch is Wifi only) is a real drag and I want to combine them into one.  I will continue to look.  My Verizon contract expires on September 11th.  I will make a decision

The Cell Phone Quest – Part 2

I do have to admit, I am biased going into this discovery process.  Since it is my desire to move back to Sprint from Verizon, I am leaning towards Sprint phones.  Emotionally, the phone I am leaning toward the most at the moment, is the Palm Pre.  Seems fitting then that this phone would be first to be reviewed and it’s the Pre’s race to loose.  Just being honest. The Pre is the newest phone from Palm.  If you have followed the phone market at all (and why in the heck would you?) you’d know that Palm has fallen off
