The Drobo Trilogy / Can it Replace Drive Extender?

I (Jim) have spend a bunch of time over the last three weeks doing an in depth review of Drobo for the Home Server Show.  While the purpose of the review was to determine if a Drobo could be used to replace the current functionality that is now in Drive Extender in a Windows Home Server. If you have never seen a Drobo in action, you might want to see these reviews.  Click Here to Review What is a Drobo you ask?  Think of it as a data robot that helps you protect your data.  It’s a simple, scalable and

Top Nine Tech Things You Should Have Tried in 2009 (but still can in 2010).

The end of the year is a great time to start throwing around lists of stuff.  As I started reflecting on 2009, I thought about all the technology that I used and how I wish others had know about it as well!  So here it is – the nine things I wish you had tried in 2009!  (Not in any order) Full Disclosure:  I was not paid to write these nice things and it is solely my own opinion.  If you have one, leave a comment below. It’s been Upgrade Weekend! (On the Cheap of Course!)

So I spent a good part of Friday night and most of Saturday doing some much needed upgrading to the PC I use daily at home.  I know with the economy being what it is and the fact that we have thousands of dollars in medical expenses for Jon’s and Tim’s accidents this winter looming, that this may not have been the best time to do something like this.  However, I had been planning this for some time and I was able to do it very inexpensively.  If you been keeping you eye on the price of computer stuff lately,

Google Street View Runs Into a Deer – All Captured on the Web!

Sometimes, even trying to do the right thing with technology can go terribly wrong.  The picture is from the vehicle being used for Google Street View and shows a baby deer getting hit in real time.  I know this sounds bad at the moment, but the deer did get back up and walk away from the accident.  So watch out when you are out driving and taking pictures for Google.  You never know what will happen next! Remember, I search so you don’t have to! Credit for the photo: http://thedw.us/post/74073534/google-maps-find-of-the-day-the-google-maps-van
