Getting Started with Windows Live Writer

Recently we showed you how to setup Windows Live Essentials 2011. We also took a closer look at one of the apps – the Bing Bar, and today we will take a look at Windows Live Writer which is a valuable program for bloggers.
Installing Windows Live Writer
If you haven’t installed it already just download and kick off the Windows Live Essentials installer. Remember you don’t need to install everything in the suite and when the install kicks off, select Choose the programs you want to install.

Now select the programs you want to install. In this example we’re just going to install Windows Live Writer (WLW).

After installation is complete you’ll find Live Writer in the Start Menu.

Configure Your Blog with WLW
After you have it installed and launch Live Writer you’ll be prompted to configure your blog with it.

Choose the blog service you want to setup with WLW. You can use it with most of the popular services like WordPress, Blogger, Live Spaces, and several others.

Home Server Show #115
So Dave took a week off and now is back and ready for action! So is show #115! Actually, it was just bad luck that Dave’s vacation landed right in the middle of the biggest news period for Windows Home Server this year. This is a long show and there is plenty to digest. We have news, forums, the Orlando meetup, and plenty of Drive Extender and HP talk. Beware though, Dave has a cold and cough and is a bit cranky throughout! This was a fun episode actually. Feb-11 Weekly Market Commentary from Guide Rock Capital – FT016
Like a climber determined to reach a peak, stock markets continued to move higher last week.
Signs of strength in U.S. and international trade data improved the outlook for economic growth at home and abroad. The U.S. trade deficit narrowed in December, a sign that the economy did better than expected during the fourth quarter of last year. In China, robust domestic demand pushed imports significantly higher while exports grew more than anticipated. In Europe, Germany’s 2012 surplus was its second highest in more than 60 years which is a sign of underlying strength in one of the Eurozone’s biggest economies.

Positive economic news hurt gold futures which ended the week modestly lower. However, it made riskier assets, like stocks, attractive to investors, which helped push equity markets higher during the week (although trading volumes were low on Friday because of bad weather in the northeast). The NASDAQ closed at a 12-year high, the S&P 500 Index reached a five-year high, and the S&P 500 posted gains for a sixth consecutive week.
